Elizabeth Swann Inspired Colonial Gown *Movie Inspiration pictures above...
This costume was inspired by the one worn by Elizabeth Swann in Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl. Elizabeth was given this gown by her father to wear to Captain Norington’s promotion ceremony….the gown and hat are soon lost after she faints and falls below the ocean depths. Her lovely pink corset can be seen after Jack saves her.
My Version of the Costume: Elizabeth Swann Inspired Colonial Gown
This Costume consists of a gown, fully made of a lovely creamy gold light weight tapestry. Neckline is trimmed with lace and ribbon bow trim that is identical to the original, (This was bought from a company that very well could have been the supplier for the movie trim, however there is no record of this, but it is the same style of trim as pictured on the original gown)
The bodice inset is hand beaded with a lovely pearl beads and a very intricate Spanish lace. The low cut neckline is adorned with a fine lace with a small rose pattern in it.
The Corset is made of a coral pink fabric, lined with creamy colored cotton. Fully boned in the historical style, it laces up the back and the front for a tight fit. The Shoulders are also adjustable so you can customize them to fit your own shoulder shape. This corset is very fun to wear, and surprisingly comfortable…have now fear, you shall not be fainting and falling into the ocean when wearing, but I would suggest not to stand too close to the walls edge. The corset will however, shape your figure into the classic colonial style.
The Petticoat is made of a very pretty ivory light weight tapestry style fabric that covers the line of the hoops very well making for a very smooth silhouette.
