I was very excited to recreate a gown for my customer inspired by Arwen's Requiem Gown from Lord of the Rings. This has long been one of my many favorite looks she wears in the film.
The original version can be seen here below...
This is the version I created fro my customer. We wanted to go for a look inspired by the original that maintained that beautiful elvish quality. The velvet also needed to be able to withstand lots of events and comic cons. So I selected a stunning poly silk velvet blend that prevented creasing.
Cascading white silk blend sleeves are accented with beaded trim and crystals. The upper sleeves are overlay-ed with beaded chiffon fabrics from Italy.
The costume is actually two gowns. The under-dress is a really pretty high quality bridal satin in a deep navy. While the over-dress is all velvet that features a sweeping train in the back.
The neckline on both the under-dress and over-dress are hand beaded with crystals and glass beads. I also added some sequins and trim to give the the dress an extra touch of elegance.

Thank you for looking at my costumes. As with all my movie inspired designs I use high quality fabrics and notions that are inspired the original. I do not claim to have every detail exact to the movie design. Everything is custom made for each customer and designed for them in mind. Each of my costumes are slightly unique. This was such a fun gown to make. I enjoyed using all the beautiful velvet and silks.
My customer sent me these lovely photos of her wearing her costume. Special thanks to Melissa Claire Photography for allowing me to use her images as well. You can view her site here
