Movie Costume Monday: Queen Ravenna

Greetings,

I hope you are all have a great start to your week.

Here in the studio things are bit busy, but I wanted to share Movie Costume Monday as per usual. So I thought, why not feature Queen Ravenna from the up coming movie?

 

Colleen Atwood is one of my favorite costume designers (as many of you know) and her work on the new "Snow White and the Huntsman" production looks amazing.

Anyway....Let's get on with the Queen shall we?

Ravenna. What a perfect name for her. Ties into everything so well.

I also happen to really like ravens. Really, they are my favorite birds. I have always wanted a pet Raven. That would be such fun. Thanks Maleficent.

I can't even explain how much I like the concept of the mirror for this movie. Having it spill out of the frame at her command was perfect.

She wears a selection of stunning costumes for this movie.

I won't go into detail of all of them, but just glance at a few.

This dress is awesome. Lined with bird skulls around the bodice...it would be fun to recreate. Well, not with real skulls, but yeah know...

I am hoping to perhaps recreate one of her looks for the Halloween Season. Just so many gowns to choose from!

Movie Costume Monday: Legolas

Greetings! 

I decided to travel to Mirkwood today and feature Legolas for Movie Costume Monday. Why you might ask?

Well, you see. I have been doing alot of archery shooting lately (way too much fun, I highly recommend it) and thinking of archery....how could I not feature one of the classics?

"There was also a strange Elf clad in green and brown, Legolas, a messenger from his father, Thranduil,  the King of the Elves of Northern Mirkwood."

- The Fellowship of the Ring book 2, chapter 2.

The costume designers for the Lord of the Rings trilogy were Ngila Disckson and Richard Taylor. Who did an incredible job of making Tolkien's amazing work come to life off of the page.

Any other geeks out there that lined up dressed in costumes when Lord of the Rings came out way back in the early 2000's?......

.....yeah, good times. Almost makes me feel old thinking about it.

I truly did laugh at the Legolas comment in "Avengers"....

Movie Costume Monday: Christine

Greetings,

Today I decided to hit "random" on my massive soundtrack selection and choose a costume based upon what song came up.

What song did appear? Ah, the ever classic "Phantom of the Opera"....

So I thought I would pick my favorite costume that Christine wore in the 2004 movie.

If I was to recreate one of her costumes for myself it would have to be the "Don Juan" Gown.

I love that style. Very gypsy.

Alexandra Byrne did an incredible job on the costumes. Her work is amazing.

Studio Activities and Super Hero Tuesday!

Greetings,

Well my loyal readers....I totally spaced Movie Costume Monday. ah! (which some of you caught me at and even sent e-mails about....so thank you) However, I am making up for it today.

As I am sure you all know....Avengers is out on Thursday! Er....at midnight, so technically Friday the 4th. But if you are crazy like us and enjoy the midnight shows then Thursday is the day.

I personally really like superhero movies. Just fun entertainment...not to mention cool costumes and crazy action. Who doesn't want to be a superhero?

The costumes look amazing in this movie. Very classic and well done. The head of the costume department for Avengers was Alexandra Byrne. (Thor, Phantom of the Opera...etc...)

She did a great job of blending all the looks. Even though the Superhero's already had their pre-established costumes from previous movies. The color pallet for the fabrics and metal/plastics are a bit darker. I like that.

On a side note...these shirts just arrived in my mail box, oh yeah.

Super fun for summer. Batgirl, X-men and Star Wars...what's not to like?

It was REALLY hard to pick only 3, but I decided to not go too crazy.

The fit is perfect. The shirt style is very good for the female form and the fabric is super soft. Buy them here. This site has lots of styles for women. So that is a huge deal! Usually the styles for us female fans are just kind of...meh.

Well I am trying to finish editing costume pictures today and have those on the website.

Busy finishing up Costume Orders, etsy things and.....working on a Snow White Costume! ah. So lots to do. I am hoping to get a few sneak peak Snow White costume pics up soon on facebook.

Movie Costume Monday: Multiple Sherlock Holmes....

I hope you are all having a great start to this new week in the world.

I am a huge Sherlock Holmes fan. The books. The short stories. The film adaptions. However, I take a keen interest also in his costumes.

Everyone designer takes their own ideas and mixes things with the "Classic Holmes" look when doing a film or tv version.

So let's take a little in depth look at Sherlock Style, shall we?

 1. 1939 Basil Rathbone as Holmes.

Not my favorite by any means, but it was an original for the time.

He certainly had that classic "storybook" style down. Complete with wool cape and matching hat.

 

2. 1984 Jeremy Brett as Holmes

This is the Sherlock I grew up watching!

“I’ve done thirty-three Sherlock Holmes stories and bits of them are all right. But the definitive Sherlock Holmes is really in everyone’s head. No actor can fit into that category because every reader has his own ideal." - Jeremy Brett

It is so true. Everyone has their own idea of who Sherlock Holmes is. However, I think Jeremy Brett nailed it. True to the books.

I think my favorite episodes are from the first season. Sherlock's costumes are a bit more eccentric and almost always paired with black striped pants. He has a very elegant victorian fashion with a wardrobe almost entirely composed of blacks and grays. He also wore an awesome black wool cape with a high collar. Perfect for vampire hunting....

3. 2009 - 2011 Robert Downey Jr. as Holmes.

Ah yes. The most current and most popular. Even non-sherlock fans have most likely seen this version of the great detective.

I think Jude Law made an excellent Dr. Watson as well. Really fits with how I pictured him in the stories.

hahha, Holmes on the other hand. Is much more crazy/eccentric and steampunk-esq, however...you can't help but like him watching the movies. He has some great lines as well.

I have done another post a year ago about his costume here. I just really like the whole look they did for him. Great fun!

 

4. 2010 - 2012 Benedict Cumberbatch as Holmes.

A new twist on a classic. Actually, this mini series is very well done. I was skeptical at first, but the first episode won me over. The new season will be out in the USA starting May! A unique take on the whole Sherlock Holmes thing.

 

His costumes are perfect. The designer totally played up the modern English look while adding a dash of victorian and a touch of whimsy. All while still staying in that stormy color pallete.

Movie Costume Monday: I Dream of Jeannie

Today I thought I would share something random and pink!

When I was little I would watch "I Dream of Jeannie". It was my "girly show" in-between watching Star Wars and Lost in Space with my brothers.

Strange little girl I suppose...I think I liked Jeanie because she looked like a real life Barbie doll to the eyes of an 8 yr old.

(¸.•´For the record...I still want to have a magic room in a bottle.

Or a sewing room that could fit in a bottle.

That would be awesome...simply pop into it in when the need arose.

Ok, back on topic. I Dream of Jeannie Pink Costume!

Jeanie would be such a fun and classic costume for a party.

Her silk pink pants, velvet bodice and chiffon draped hat are really an icon of a costume now.

Gwen Wakeling did the original costume design for the show. She captured such a "1960's" fashion look, while still keeping it fun and fresh. Jeannie had such a Barbie look about her.

(¸.•´Ben Lane was the head of the makeup department and designed the signature makeup looks for Jeannie and also for Samantha in Bewitched! I can't even imagine how many false eyelashes they must have went through.

Movie Costume Monday: Miss Havisham

This Movie Costume Monday is a bit late..opps! But at least I am posting it while it is still Monday. ;) I had to take a run into the fabric store this morning...so the computer work was put off a bit.

So without further ado here is this weeks feature.

I happen to really like Charles Dickens stories. However, I have never really ever liked the story Great Expectations. I always found it a bit...lacking, simply because I hadn't seen a version that I thought Pip was well casted in.

With that being said..I thought the most recent version that was on Masterpiece Theater was excellent! Really good, I actually enjoyed the story.

Gillian Anderson did an amazing job as Miss Havisham. (I always like her as an actress anyway) but she made the character...creepy, pitiful and almost romantic. As a viewer you felt sorry for her. Yet, there was a dangerous element to her that you never really trusted.

Her Costume was perfect!

The general decay of it over the years really showed. As the years went by you could see that gorgeous wedding gown become gray, torn and covered in mildew.

The makeup artist outdid themselves as well! Miss Havisham was almost pretty (in a ghostly way) at the first of the film, but then became such a level of decay and disarray that she looked like the walking dead.

*Side note: David Suchet did an awesome job playing Jaggers! Really great.

 

Do you have a favorite Charles Dickens Story?

I am not sure if I have a true favorite, but I enjoy all of his so far that I have seen/read. Such a dark time, but somehow he was able to capture a sense of real life during a London that no longer exists.

Movie Costume Monday: Seneca Crane

Happy Movie Costume Monday!

As many of you know, The Hunger Games buzz has been everywhere online. .

To be honest I was very skeptical, but the movie was surprisingly good. I totally recommend it! 

I actually liked the movie better then the book. (However I have only read the first story in the series)

Now, while I was watching the movie my eye naturally goes towards costume and makeup details.

Costume Designer Judianna Makovsky was able to make the costumes from Suzanne Collins’ futuristic world come to life. I thought she did a fantastic job! 

Ve Neill created and designed the makeup looks of a dystopian future for "The Hunger Games". She is my favorite makeup artist so it was really fun to see her work in this movie. Tons of attention to detail as well as a unique "real life feel" to all the characters looks.

I think one of my favorite "character looks" (ok besides Katniss of course. Her costumes were perfect)

Was actually Seneca Crane.

His beard was just epic. Totally the first thing I noticed when promotional stills started to appear online a few months back.

*according to Ve Neill, it took her 3 hours to create this beard. Then touch ups throughout filming.

The red and black color scheme used on his costumes was an excellent contrast with the more bright and garish colors worn by the rest of the capital celebrities.

 
For his actual "costume design" the garments were streamlined and more simplistic, but with a futuristic edge. I liked the cross over shirts and perfectly tailored jackets. Lots of silks used I think.

Movie Costume Monday: Obi Wan's Costumes

These last two weeks have been incredibly busy. I do apologize for the lack of updates and posts...

However, I have lots of fun things coming this week. So stay tuned!

For this Movie Costume Monday I thought I would feature Obi Wan's style throughout the Star Wars Movies.

The Costumes from the 3 prequel movies were designed by Trisha Biggar. The original trilogy costumes for the classic films were designed by John Mollo. I think Trisha did an amazing job recreating the looks and adding her own style.

The Classic Jedi.

I remember seeing the "Phantom Menace" for the first time..it was so cool, to see the young version of Obi Wan. Loved it. His style is interesting because his Jedi Costume has soooo many little details..and it changes ever so slightly for each movie.

Movie Costume Monday: Faye Dolan

Greetings,

Today I thought something 1960's would be fun. Thus I decided upon Liv Tyler in "That Thing You Do". She looked so pretty and 1960's in this movie.

I hadn't seen this movie in years (it came out in 1996) but it was on tv a while back, so I ended up watching it again...totally forgot how cute Liv's wardrobe was.

ahhh! Now I know why I liked the costumes, they were done by Colleen Atwood. Lol. Not sure how I didn't know this sooner, but now I do.

here is a the link to the song in the movie. Warning...will get stuck in your head.

Her wardrobe is very classic 1960's, but with more of jewel tone color scheme. (black, green, blue.etc..) With her long dark hair. LOVE it.

Of course we can't forget her perfect cat eyeliner and nude lipgloss. (Although, I pretty much always like Liv Tyler's Makeup and Style in her movies. She is just naturally stunning.)

This has actually inspired me to try out a 60's inspired makeup look like hers. Hmmm...have to do that this week.

Movie Costume Monday: Elizabeth Swann Wedding Dress

Today is my 4oth "Movie Costume Monday" post. Wow, that is crazy.

I would simply love to make a recreation of this dress.

Yards and yards of silk, beading and embroidery. So pretty.

Penny Rose did an amazing job. I read in an interview with her that she actually made the original version of this dress. (Not the stunt versions) It was one of the only costumes she fully constructed herself.

I actually prefer how the dress looks worn and rumpled a bit after she is taken to the prison.

Her make up is my very favorite after the rain...with that smokey pirate eye and messy hair.

If I was going to make myself a colonial dress I would do it in this style.

Perhaps another color....I am not sure if I would want the "wedding dress" look.

Movie Costume Monday: Grace Kelly as Lisa Fremont

Greetings,

Sorry this is a bit late this morning, but I was hoping to feature a gown from the Oscar's last night...however, I didn't see one dress that had a "wow" factor for me.

How sad. In all those dresses you would think one of them would be have show stopping. Although, I didn't see pictures of many of my favorite actresses...not sure why they are not in the line up for photos.

So I decided to go retro and feature one of Edith Head's most famous designs.

Grace Kelly's Dress in Rear Window.

I really like Alfred Hitchcock movies. They are great. Edith Head did sooo many of the costume designs as well, so we get the best of both.

Grace Kelly starred in 3 Alfred Hitchcock movies. (Dial M for Murder, Rear Window, To Catch a Thief) and each time she appeared on film her wardrobe was stunning.

She reminds me a bit of a fancy Nancy Drew in this movie. The classic Nancy Drew stories. Especially the scene when she is wearing that pretty 1950's dress climbing up the side of the apartment....with heels.

Today I decided to feature Mary's Wedding Dress from Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows.

Isn't her gown pretty? Very Victorian Elegance.

You can see it better in this shot.... Poor Watson is looking a bit bedraggled.

I really liked all the costumes in this movie. Jenny Beavan did a fantastic job on the designs. I always like how she puts Sherlock's style together.

Mary's Costumes were very lovely. Lots of classic Victorian looks.

Movie Costume Monday: Valentine’s Couples

Well being that Valentine's Day is tomorrow...

I decided to pick four "couples" based upon my favorites and their costumes.

So without further ado...here we are!

*this was REALLY hard to only pick 4 couples...too many good movies out there.

• Wesley and Buttercup 
• Zorro and Elena
• Aragorn and Arwen
• Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth

The above couples are from some of my favorites movies based upon the costumes.

I simply had to choose Princess Bride...a movie about true love! Zorro and Elena are the perfect swashbuckling couple with amazing costumes! Aragorn and Arwen...one of my all time favorite couples. Mr. Darcy and Lizzie.....well, Pride and Prejudice is a well known love story for a good reason.

What can I say...I am a hopeless romantic.

I received these lovely red roses from my Dad.  I thought that was really sweet.

Red Roses are my very favorite flower. Love them. Aren't they pretty?

Movie Costume Monday: Emma and Mr. Knightly

Greetings,

 This week for movie costume Monday I thought I would go a bit Jane Austen on you all.

So why not Emma and Mr.Knightly from the newest version of Jane Austen's novel, Emma?

This mini-series stars Romola Garai as Emma Woodhouse.

 I think the costume designer Rosalind Ebbutt did a lovely job with the color palette with the use of earth tones and pops of jewel colored fabrics. So much better than the standard "white" look often seen in Jane Austen films.

I also enjoy the Gwyneth Paltrow "Emma movie"... however, I like the costumes better in the newer version. So there ya go.

Movie Costume Monday: Elena's Riding Outfit

Greetings,

I was feeling in a bit of a "Zorro" mood, so I decided to choose one of Elena's Costumes for this movie costume monday feature.

Now, I absolutely adore all of her costumes in The Mask of Zorro (1998)

I would like one of each please..... 

The reason I picked her "riding outfit" is that it is a bit less well known (than her "dance dress" or that stunning blue creation at the end of the movie)

She wears this classic Spanish looking outfit when she meets Alejandro (Zorro) for the first time...on her way to confessions.

The white gathered blouse on the upper part of the white dress is layered over the top with a leather vest. Her jewelry is a pretty shade of silver and the necklace pendant is strung on a dark brown/red cording.

The costume designer for this movie was Graciela Mazon. She did an amazing job on creating a new and fresh take on the classic "Zorro" image.

When was looking up images for this movie I forgot how old it is now! I remember when it came out and it doesn't seem like that long ago...but I guess it was.

I happen to own a very nice quality replica of Zorro's Sword. Mine was made in Spain and is an official replica from the movie.....if any one wants to see pictures I shall take a few. I know there must be a few of my readers out there who also enjoy swords! :)

Movie Costume Monday: Indiana Jones

Greetings,

I hope your week is full of adventure....

...and on that note I thought we would start the week off with a Movie Costume Monday featuring one of the best true adventure heros. Indiana Jones.

I am such a history geek...and I grew up watching these movies. The ride at Disneyland is pretty awesome as well...one of the best! Oh and I can't stand snakes either. *Shudders*....

Raiders of the Lost Ark is my favorite, but they are all pretty good. So I shall probably only feature the costumes from the first movie here today.

Indiana Jones Costume/Outfit

The Classic Indiana Jones look. Fedora + Leather Jacket + Whip = awesome.

The ladies in these movies get some fun 1940's styles as well.

I personally think that Marion has the best looks out of all the ladies. (ok, I guess Elsa the Nazi girl does have some nice suits...but who likes her?)

She goes from classic pants and a mens loose shirt, to those silk red pants and embroidered blouse and then is forced in a fluffy white gown that soon gets destroyed. (fire and a snake pit will do that) oh, not to mention another white silk gown and finally a classic fitted jacket and skirt.

I should make this costume. It would be fun! Maybe I could find a monkey for the photoshoot lol... I've never made silk "princess jasmine style pants" before....I love the red color in this outfit.

*A bit of fun trivia.

"Tom Selleck was offered the part of Indiana Jones in Steven Spielberg's 1981 film Raiders of the Lost Ark, but was reportedly too busy filming his TV show Magnum P.I. to accept. The part of the swashbuckling archaeologist went to Harrison Ford instead"

Movie Costume Monday: White Queen

I hope you are all having a great start to this new week.

Today I thought I would travel to Wonderland for Movie Costume Monday....

One of my "top 100" costumes I want to make for myself would have to be the White Queen from Alice in Wonderland. The style is so fun with that full skirt and corseted bodice.

The snowflakes on the skirt add a whimsical yet cold touch. Her make is also rather "wonderland" glamour with those blood red nails and matching lip. Not sure how I could stuff all my hair under a white wig, but I am sure I could manage some how.

Movie Costume Monday: Mary Poppins

I hope you are all in a Jolly Holiday Mood....

So...for this Movie Costume Monday I was inspired by a good friend of mine. Who happens to really like Mary Poppins. (Actually, she just met her in Disneyworld this week! Yay! for Disney Magic!) ok..back on track.

Mary Poppins

Julie Andrews is such a perfect Mary Poppins. I liked how Walt Disney took the story and turned it into a true Disney Classic....made it with his own style. It was a big movie for 1964, especially being a musical and featuring real actors in a cartoon sequence.

I grew up watching a lot of Disney movies...including this one! Such fun.

and let us not forget...

"So when the cat has got your tongue, there's no need for dismay! Just summon up this word, and then you've got a lot to say!"....."Oh, supercallifragilisticexpialidocious, even though the sound of it is something quite atrocious."...

Movie Costume Monday: Han Solo

Greetings,

I woke up with the Star Wars Theme song stuck in my head.

Must have a high medicolorians count today or something.

Anyway.... Happy Movie Costume Monday!

Thanks to my set of Star Wars on blueray I have been watching them while sewing....

...so I can't go without featuring a Han Solo costume right?

 Han Solo is the best.     

His costume seems to be very "cowboy inspired" with the classic white shirt, black vest/jacket and almost civil war military pants. Of course we can't forget the leather boots and blaster.

Movie Costume Monday: Elizabeth Bennet

I hope you all are having a nice monday after a weekend of holiday parties and festive events.

Today I wanted to feature a costume and decided upon Lizzie Bennet.

Ok, before I start a war in the Jane Austen community I will be up front.

Hands down, my favorite ever version of Pride and Prejudice is the 2005 starring Kiera Knightly and Matthew Macfadyen. I respect your choice if you like the 1995 version.

I just like these costumes better, among other things....and the music! So pretty.

The costume below is one of my favorites that Lizzie wears....

Her brown linen gown is also a lovely style of gown. I am working on making my own version of it, but haven't found the time to complete it yet. Hopefully soon!

Movie Costume Monday: Just Breathe Cinderella Dress

Greetings!

It is beginning to feel a lot like Christmas around here....pretty winter weather, lovely green trees and holiday recipes! Perfect for curling up next to the fire with a good fairytale.

Speaking of fairy tales. 

I was sticking to just featuring Christmas movie costumes this month...but I was in a fairytale mood. So there you have it.

I have had this exact picture taped on my wall for years. If I could have one pair of "dream shoes" these would be the ones...

Danielle's "Just Breathe Dress" also known as her "Cinderella" dress is one of my top favorite costumes of all times. Arwen wins the top score for my VERY favorite costumes, but this dress is a very close second. So all of Arwen's and then this dress. Yep, that would be perfect.

I grew up watching this movie so it has always been a special favorite of mine.

Isn't it stunning?.....

Someday I shall make my own wedding gown inspired by this! Maybe.

Movie Costume Monday: Belle's Christmas Coat

Greetings!

I hope you are all having a lovely winter day wherever you may be.

Being that I am continuing the "christmas" theme on Movie Costume Monday here is another winter costume. Actually, this post was inspired by my dear cousin. We were just having a conversation of how much she liked this velvet coat.

This was from the Movie "A Christmas Carol" (the Patrick Stewart version 1999)

Belle's Coat is a lovely dark rust silk velvet. It must have been so soft! Lots of details create the style of the coat, but the hood is the most iconic of the construction. That perfect full hood, boned to stay up over carefully curled tresses...not to mention keeping the cold London wind off of her face. The look is completed with lovely long gloves.

Movie Costume Monday: Jo March

Greetings!

The weather is getting cold and things are beginning to look a lot like Christmas. So on that note, I thought it would be fun to feature a few of my favorite "Christmas Movie costumes" each Monday before the 24th of December.

First off... Jo's Red Plaid dress from Little Women.

I suppose it isn't really a Christmas movie, but I always end up watching Little Women around the winter holiday season. The lovely capes, hoop skirts and winter gowns all look so nice against the snow in the movie.

Her plaid dress is so pretty!

I love that whole scene where she has to go to the Christmas Party and meets Laurie. Classic. One of my favorites.

I didn't have time to stop frame an image of the entire dress, but I am sure many of you have already seen this movie anyway. Or if not, you can see this scene here where Jo burns Meg's hair.

Beth wears this same dress later at the following Christmas party.

This is one of the "civil war" style gowns I would love to recreate for my own collection.

Movie Costume Monday: Scarlet

Greetings!

I hope you are all having a great Monday.

Things are busy around the studio, but I didn't want to forget about the featured costume for the week... so here it 'tis!

I decided upon featuring Scarlet O'Hara today.

No, she is not the most perfect lady.... actually she is rather a conceited and selfish cinematic heroine, but I like her anyway! Although, she drives me crazy during the last half of the film...why did she have to go and ruin her own life?  I have no idea.  

Her costumes are just amazing! True costume history was made when that movie was created. To this day Gone with the Wind is still one of the big Costume Movies.

Now, Scarlet has many, many costumes.....and I like almost all of them! 

I adore her Green/White Picnic gown like everyone else, but that one is scattered all over the cyber space realm. So I thought I would choose one of my other favorites. 

Scarlet's red velvet robe.

Someday I want one of these for my collection.

With yards and yards of blood red silk velvet this robe certainly makes an entrance.

It seemed holiday like for the up coming season to feature something red velvet.

Well, fiddle-de-de I best be back to work. 

Movie Costume Monday: Aramis

Well it is Movie Costume Monday yet again on the studio blog and I have decided to feature a costume from the new Three Musketeers Movie.

This movie is one that many people liked...and many people hated.

I found the movie to be a fun, airship battle filled story that was glazed with Princess Bride style humor, plenty of sword fights..and elaborate costumes.  Just don't watch it thinking you are getting a historical, realistic, serious....anything. lol.  And watch it with some friends whom you can laugh and have fun with.

However, one must at least agree that the costumes were over the top. Honestly, the amount of silk, satin, ribbons, gold buttons and general costume bling that was showcased in this movie was amazing. Wow.

The Costume Designer was Pierre-Yves Gayraud. (Bourne Idenity etc...)

I have never been much of a fan of the Ladies costumes from this time period.  M'Lady did have some lovely gowns, but I thought we would focus on one of the Three Musketeers instead.

So if you want to see the ladies silk gowns check out the movie for some fun looks!

I thought all the Musketeer costumes were perfect.

Porthos ____  Athos____ D'Artagnan____ Aramis

My favorite Musketeer was Aramis, who is also a part time priest.

I just liked the over-all look of his costumes best and the priest thing was a fun twist. 

His Costumes consist of black textured silk fabrics, leather jackets and pirate style embroidered shirts. The black wool cape is worn off the shoulder and slung to one side.

A golden cross necklace symbolized his Priest status.  He also wore slightly steampunk-esq glasses (not pictured) while reading. 

Of course no Musketeer's look would be complete without that classic hat that is so iconic of this story...and a giant pair of black leather boots. 

His sword was in the shape of a cross on the hilt. Great design detail done there by the sword designers. You notice it the most when he is kneeling down after killing dozens of guards.

Before I wrap things up I shall leave you with a few more costume pictures from the movie.

M' Lady has a lovely and puffy golden cream gown here.

I must admit though I really did laugh out loud when I saw The Duke of  Buckingham. (Orlando Bloom).

His ensembles were entertaining colorful and....slightly peacock like. However, he does end up in some more manly styles towards the end of the film. But my hat is off to his hair dresser... his hair was always extra quaffed for each occasion. Hairspray any one?

Lots of fun colors of silk there. Although King Louis XIII costumes were much more  flamboyant and shall make you laugh.

I am currently reading this book right now by Alexandre Dumas. I have read (and own) The Count of Monte Cristo and The Man in the Iron Mask, but somehow I never got around to reading The Three Musketeers. So I am reading that to find out more of the written story.

Movie Costume Monday: Marcus Wright

Greetings,

On this fine Monday morning I decided to choose a costume from Terminator Salvation...so I picked Marcus's green/gray coat outfit. The perfect rugged end of the world look.

Costume designer Michael Wilkinson did an awesome job with the whole look of the film. Everything was kept very lived in and worn down. With hard elements of leather, canvas and military accents.

Movie Costume Monday: Princess Leia

"A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...."

I grew up watching Star Wars and playing with Star Wars action figures...thus the costumes were kind of seared into my mind.

Princess Leia has always been one of my favorites.

  Today I have feature her "Cloud  City Costume".

Costume featured in Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back, 1980.

                  What say you ...Ya or Nay?

Movie Costume Monday: Crazy Cora

Greetings,

How about a Western costume for you all?...or should I say, ya'all.

I grew up watching lots of westerns. Every John Wayne movie or any of those other old classic westerns. My brothers, cousins and I would always watch them at my Grandparent's house.

I recently just watched Quigley again because I hadn't seen it in so long. Plus I was sewing costumes, while listening to it. Variety is key when sewing all day.

Cora's Costumes from Quigley Down Under made in 1990, starring Tom Seleck is my western outfit for today.

 

I really like her other costumes as well, but I thought I would feature her "fancy one". Although I wish you got to see this dress more.

One of my favorites quotes is when Cora says something like, "if you find a dress that ain't to costly, red is my favorite. Pink is ok...but red's my favorite."  Right before Quigley leaves for town.

Red's my favorite too! well...other than green.

This is a costume I would love to re-make and wear. The sleeves are so pretty and that trim...really completes the outfit. She even has black lace gloves! Totally my style. I bet her corset is red.

Quigley's costumes are great. Classic American Cowboy all the way. Even his American attitude is perfect....contrasts with the Australian style.

So do you enjoy a good western every now and then?

Movie Costume Monday: Katrina's Striped Dress

 
Greetings!

Being that it is October I had to mention the amazing striped dress that Katrina wears in Sleepy Hollow.

Designed by one of my favorite costume designers  (Colleen Atwood) she often loves to use that classic black and white striped fabric combination. She even included stripes in The Tourist costumes....actually she uses it on every Tim Burton movie as well.

ok, back to the costume at hand.

If I was a rich creature I would make one for myself. Doesn't it look fun to wear?

I wish you could see this costume more in the movie, but it makes a perfect dress to end upon.

If anyone out there is looking for their own Sleepy Hollow Costume (men or woman) just let me know and I would be happy to create a garment all your own.
